Faith in the SDGs
Exploring the opportunities for faith investors to align their investments to support climate adaptation and mitigation
In recognition of the role faith groups have played in the development of ethical finance we led the worlds first joint venture project between the Church and Islamic finance to launch the Edinburgh Finance Declaration – a shared values framework that can be used to underpin an ethical finance solution open to all society, regardless of race, religion or ethnic background.
As we move away from COP26, we are continuing to work with Her Majesty’s Treasury, Islamic Development Bank, State Bank of Pakistan, UNDP Indonesia and other institutions across the ‘Global South’ to raise awareness and align Islamic finance with the SDGs.
We believe that involving faith groups represents an important avenue for action as we look ahead to future COPs, ensuring their endowments are invested responsibly and including voices from around the world.
Faith-based finance had a key role to play, particularly in bringing diverse voices from around the world to the table to understand the shared values and goals which drive humanity.

Faith in the SDGs Mini Summit
How can faiths help channel finance towards the SDGs? At COP26, together with FaithInvest, UKIFC, Wahed Invest and the Church of Scotland, we brought together financial institutions, faith groups and a range of other stakeholders to discuss how faith-based finance can channel funding towards the SDGs.
